A Twist Too Far

Sorry this episode is a little late, dear listeners!

This week we delve into two films that just refuse to let a story be simple, indie time travel picture Predestination and Brett Ratner’s crack at an old tale in Hercules. We really give them a hard time… sorry to everyone involved. We know making movies is hard.

For homework we have Clash of the Titans, an older attempt at a Hercules movie, and the New Zealand comedy What We Do in the Shadows.

So put in some elbow grease  — these twelve labours won’t do themselves! — with Pete and Justin on the Shoot the Glass podcast.

Lovers and Fighters

It’s a short one this week which means that, like an all-syrup Squishee, the concentrated goodness will blow your mind.

Or something!

This episode we talk about Aussie apocalypse film These Final Hours, Ebert doco Life Itself, and rom-com spoof They Came Together. We also discuss the trailer for the new Mad Max film and recommend Mad Max 2 for homework along with old Melbourne indie Smoke ‘Em If You Got ‘Em and New Zealand low-budget schlocker Battletruck. Which I accidentally call Battletruck 2000, but I don’t think Battletruck minds. Battletruck is surprisingly forgiving.

Battletruck.

So run to the chapel, interrupt that ceremony and speak now or forever hold your peace with Pete and Justin on the Shoot the Glass podcast!

O Captain! My Captain!

This week we pay our respects to the late, great Robin Williams and recommend Good Will Hunting, Good Morning Vietnam, Dead Poets Society and The Fisher King as films to watch in his honour, along with the TV series that made him a star, Mork and Mindy. Lauren Bacall also passed this week, and for her we have the classics To Have and Have Not and Key Largo.

In happier news, Pete has found that Netflix is a great service and we discuss some of the latest rumours and stuff surrounding JJ Abrams’ Star Wars movie. Pete also throws in another piece of homework, the indie doco The People vs. George Lucas.

And, of course, we talk about some films! Well just one, actually, but it’s a doozy — Marvel’s latest blockbuster, Guardians of the Galaxy.

So cue up your favourite mixtape, put on your headphones and come dance through the universe with Pete and Justin on the Shoot The Glass podcast!
